Impact Mechanisms of Commutation Failure Caused by a Sending-End AC Fault and Its Recovery Speed on Transient Stability

A sending-end AC fault may lead to commutation failure (CF) in a line-commutated converter high-voltage direct current (LCC-HVDC) system. In this paper, theoretical analysis of the impact mechanisms CF and its recovery speed on transient stability power system (TSSPS) is performed. Firstly, models DC are established; ramp function utilized characterize process. Secondly, swing direction relative rotor angle caused by discussed, flow method employed theoretically analyze impacts TSSPS. Next, mathematic relations between parameters voltage-dependent order limiter (VDCOL) further derived. It concluded that related fault, inertia generators, location rectifier station.
